Self-Care Products Workshop - Feb 8, 10-1PM $35, 26 Davis Chapel Rd, Candler

Get crafty in the era of Eros! Debra Maslowski with Earth Echoes will demonstrate a bath bomb, lotion bar and beeswax candle and explain use of various ingredients, substitutes and techniques. You'll get hands-on to create your own three crafts for gifting yourself or a loved one for a little relaxation at home.

Deb started her soap and spa product-making journey in 1990, in Hugo, Minnesota. She learned how to make soap by reading books, trial & error and teaching at local colleges. In 2004, she moved to NC, learning from Mimi Hernandez, CoreyPine Shane, Marc Williams and other area herbalists. Deb runs the Owl’s Nest cafe at Warren Wilson but you can find her teaching at abtech.edu. In her spare time, she lives on a small farm with her sister Karyn and animals, loves hiking in the woods and collecting rocks. More at www.earthechoesnc.com.

Late Winter Ethnobotany - Feb 22, 1-4pm $25-50 Sliding Scale, 26 Davis Chapel Rd, Candler

Join Ethnobiologist Marc Williams on a plant walk during the most challenging time of the year to botanize. We will learn to distinguish more subtle characteristics to identify many plants, take note of early bloomers and engage in a dialogue about off season woody plant characteristics, ethnobotanical applications and resources for further study.

Ethnobiologist Marc Williams has taught hundreds of classes to thousands of people about plants, humans, other life forms and their interfaces. He has a M.A. in Appalachian Studies/Sustainable Development from Appalachian State University, and over 25 years of experience working at various restaurants, farms, and traveled throughout 30 countries.
