How to Use:
To make a tea, steep 1-2 teaspoons of dried herb in a cup of boiled water for a few minutes or to taste. Strain and enjoy with a bit of honey, if you wish. To make a syrup, follow the instructions included on the bag.
To make a syrup here is our recipe:
1/2 cup dried black elderberries (about 2 ounces)
2 1/2 cups of water
1/2 - 2/3 cup raw honey
Optional: 2 Tbl fresh or dried ginger root, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp cloves or clove powder
Pour water into medium saucepan and add elderberries, spices. Bring to a boil then reduce to a simmer for about 45 minutes to an hour until the liquid has reduced by half. Let cool. Mash the berries with a spoon and pour through a strainer into a glass jar or bowl. Let the liquid cool to lukewarm add honey and stir well. Refrigerate.
½ - 1 tsp children ½ -1 Tbl adults. Up dose frequency every 2-3 hours when experiencing flu.
