This lovingly shredded slippery elm comes from the inner bark of the slippery elm (Ulmus rubra) tree. Slippery elm is a well-known digestive aid, coating the mucous membranes and particularly those of the stomach and digestive tract. It is a nutritive, gentle, demulcent, and mucilaginous herb that also soothes the tissues of the mouth, throat, and voice.*
How to Use:
To make a tea, steep 1-2 teaspoons of dried herb in a cup of boiled water for a few minutes or to taste. Strain and enjoy with a bit of honey, if you wish. To make a cold infusion, steep a few spoonfuls of dried herb in a cup of cold water for at least 8 hours or overnight. Or, you can make slippery elm into a nourishing herbal infusion like this.
